Are you planning a visit to Fort Lauderdale and need transportation? A lot of my clients come in from out of town to look at property to either invest in, or keep as a second home. If you're walking along the Intracoastal you won't be able to miss the yellow boats everywhere. Those boats are the Water Taxi's that drop people off, and pick them up throughout the Intracoastal in Fort Lauderdale. You can find a link to their schedule and fare information here. The schedule changes with the seasons, but generally the Water Taxi's run from 10am to 11:30PM. At the time of this posting the all day fare was $20. It's an incredibly fun way to see Fort Lauderdale and explore the Intracoastal. You can also view some great Real Estate!
You can hop on and off the Water Taxi at the Downtowner Saloon. It's a great place to have a drink and watch the boats pass by.
The second type of transportation I have to tell you about is the Sun Trolley. The Trolley's are air conditioned, and environmentally friendly as they run on bio-diesel. There's even an app on their website, which you can find here, that allows you too see where the Trolley's are. It's a fun way to get from the center of Las Olas Boulevard over to Fort Lauderdale Beach.
Finally, for those feeling active, there is the Broward Bike Sharing! I have to confess we haven't done this yet, but we keep talking about it. In short this allows you to rent a bicycle, hassle free, then return it to any one of several stations spread throughout Fort Lauderdale. Very convenient and it helps Fort Lauderdale's movement towards environmental sustainability.
